Forward Zapier Error Alerts to Our Slack

Use these steps to forward Zapier alert emails into our Slack error notification channel.

Forwarding Rule

Forward any email matching this subject rule:

				
					subject:("[ALERT] Possible error on your")
				
			

Forward the matching emails to this Slack forwarding address:

				
					error-notifier-aaaatg6wqearcs4mq2i4ky6owy@drutm.slack.com
				
			

Before You Start

You only need to set this up in the inbox that receives the Zapier alert emails.

If you are using Gmail or Google Workspace, the forwarding address must be added and approved before Gmail will let you use it in a filter.

Step 1: Add Our Slack Address as a Forwarding Address

  1. Open Gmail.
  2. Click the gear icon in the top right.
  3. Click See all settings.
  4. Open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  5. Click Add a forwarding address.
  6. Enter this address:
    [email protected]
  7. Click Next, then Proceed, then OK.

Step 2: Wait for Us to Approve the Forwarding Request

After you add the forwarding address, Gmail sends a verification email to our Slack forwarding address.

We will receive that email in Slack and approve the forwarding request. If Gmail gives us a confirmation code instead of a one-click approval link, we will send the code back to you so you can enter it in Gmail.

Once the forwarding address is approved, you can create the filter.

Step 3: Create the Zapier Alert Filter

  1. In Gmail, click the search options icon in the search bar.
  2. In the filter/search criteria, use this subject match:
subject:("[ALERT] Possible error on your")

If you are using the Gmail popup fields instead of the search box, put this in the Subject field:

[ALERT] Possible error on your
  1. Click Create filter.
  2. Check Forward it to.
  3. Select this forwarding address:
[email protected]
  1. Optional but recommended: check Apply the label and create a label like Zapier Errors.
  2. Click Create filter.

Important: Do not enable forwarding for all incoming mail. The goal is to forward only the Zapier alert emails that match the subject rule above.

Step 4: Test the Setup

  1. Trigger or wait for a Zapier alert email with a subject that starts with:
[ALERT] Possible error on your
  1. Confirm that the email arrives in your inbox.
  2. We will confirm that the forwarded alert appears in our Slack error notification channel.

Notes

  • Gmail filters only apply to new incoming emails after the filter is created.
  • If the forwarding address does not appear as an option when creating the filter, the forwarding approval is not complete yet.
  • If you use Google Workspace and do not see forwarding options, your Workspace admin may need to allow external forwarding.
